There are two types of women in the world. Women that look like an elegant gazelle prancing around in a pair of Pigalle 120’s; and women who suffer through life on the hunt for their unicorn: a comfortable pair of high heels.
Spoiler Alert, I’m the latter of the two.
Pure and utter jealousy is what I have for the gazelles of the world in their ridiculously beautiful Christian Louboutins. Someone once told me the secret to lasting in stilettos was an extra glass of wine. I tested that theory out many times trying to make it work – but kept ending up barefoot with a hangover.
I am no longer in denial. The sky high heels aren’t for me. What I find beautiful now are shoes I can walk in confidently without having to switch halfway through the night.
I have done a LOT of research hunting for the unicorn, and I must say – a quick google search for “comfortable high heels” does not bring up pretty results. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why can’t they make comfortable heels that don’t look like the heel equivalent of orthotic Velcro sneakers.
Well I’m here to tell you: THEY DO! I’ve rounded up my favourites below!
Rockport
If you love the look of classic pointed toe pumps, then these are for you! My most loved pair of “work heels”! These Total Motion Pointed Toe Pumps have it all. The website says: “comfortable glove-like fit, benefiting from a midsole cushion and non-slip” and they aren’t lying! My favourite part about them is the sole. The non-slip technology really adds to the walk-ability of these, especially if you walk on tile or slippery surfaces. The other thing I LOVE about them is that they come in a large variety of colours and fabrics: Suede, patent, leather, black, tan, floral. Even some metallics for a night out! These are my “long day heels” – I know I can last, and walk as long as needed in them!
Tory Burch Chelsea Pump
Women’s Tory Burch Chelsea Pump, Size 7.5 M – Beige
I love these dual tone Chelsea Pumps – they remind me of a classic Chanel Pump, but without the price tag! I wouldn’t technically call these high heels… But I had to include them! They are SO comfy! Perfect for those with wider feet, the rounded toe really gives your poor toes a break from being wedged into stilettos. The block heel is always a good choice for comfort, and is a modest 2″. You will be able to wear these from morning to night – no problem! PLUS! Tory Burch is always having private sales online, and so is Nordstrom. You can’t go wrong!
Nine West
Nine West makes amazing shoes. They are so sturdy and always feel well made to me! These Tatiana Pumps are lower on the list for a reason. As much as I love them, I can’t wear them all from morning to night. These are the perfect shoes for me if I have an event that I want to wear them to (that doesn’t last all day). They are sturdy, well made, come in a HUGE variety of colours/styles, and are great for events that you want that extra height for! Putting the Tatiana Pump aside, Nine West makes some of my favourite shoes and very reasonably priced!
Wish List & Honourable Mentions
Cadrilla Patent Block-Heel Red Sole Pump
I give Christian Louboutin’s a hard time, but it’s mainly out of jealously (as stated previously). I am still on the hunt and am determined to find a pair that will work for me. I’ve been eyeing the Cadrilla Pump, and the Simple Pump. I know block heels may not be sexy – but a block heel from Christian Louboutin has to be! They are on my wish list… I will update you once I’ve finally pulled the trigger and tried them out!
Women’s Manolo Blahnik ‘Hangisi’ Jewel Pump, Size 7.5US / 37.5EU – Blue
The shoe that will forever make me think of Carrie Bradshaw! I have wanted a pair of these forever. I couldn’t justify spending the hefty price tag on a pair of shoes that would be uncomfortable. However, the more and more I read reviews on them, the more I am being sold on their walkability. The Manolo Blahnik Hangisi’s come in a variety of heights, the above pictured being the modest 70mm – I feel this is something I could pull off. No, it is not a “work shoe” obviously, but it is such a classic. I really wanted the blue pair for my wedding, but didn’t end up buying them because I knew I wanted to dance all night. I am sure that I will be able to update you on these in the future because I just can’t stop thinking about them. I have convinced myself the 70mm heel will be short enough to handle in a designer pump.

It’s always so hard to find shoes that look nice but are also comfortable to go in for miles! I tend to choose comfort over beauty and that’s not always ideal… Also, I love the feel and your blog name!!! Thank you for great advice!
Thank you Marina! I knew I wasn’t alone in this issue! Comfort wins for me every time now. I’m so happy I finally have a few key brands I know I can order from online and be confident they will be comfy! Glad you enjoyed the post! 🙂
